It's been a while since last update, gosh it's been a quiet November from my side. I figured I sohuld post something and since there's nothing really finished yet I'll post a nice WIP post (duh!)!
I'm nearing the completion of the first Grey Hunter pack, so I figured I'll just toss in a few pictures of those. They're coming along really nicely, love how they turn out in the end, even though a few things could've been done a bit better. But hey, take a look yourselves.
Obviously, there's more if you click below.
The three that are really finished first. Like how all those three turned out. You can see the melta on the right! The back shows off my favourite element though - wolf furs. I'm painting them along the way described in a WD article and really liking the way they turn out!
Another two, which are next to be finished. You can see what a terrible face the one on the left has... And you can see the He-man on the right! I just couldn't paint his hair any other color..
And the last two. The model on the left is a "pack leader". There isn't anything to support him rules-wise, but he's the guy that'd lead the pack while the Wolf Guard isn't present. If the squad had any power fists or such, he'd be the guy with it. On the right on the other hand you can see the Mark of the Wulfen guy. It took me a while to figure how to make those and came up with this. Looking how fluff-wise pretty much every Grey Hunter should be tatooed I decided to enhance it, with a lil' inspiration from the codex. The MotW model has to have 3 things: A chainsword (The bolter wielding guys won't ever be one!), a wolf skull attached to his belt and his tattoo will be red, unlike the blue ones of the other models. Truth to be said only the last feature is defning, but I'm certainly sticking to all 3 aspects, even though there are plenty other models with chainswords and wolf skulls (though not at the belt), while none has a red tattoo.
And here's the only element done on the Wolf Guard. I take the WG heads out of the terminator box, helps them being truly unique! I'm pondering a lot on that Thunderhammer and how could i put Thunder in it..
And lastly, another WIP, a Dreadnaught conversion I've made. Truth to be said dreads are cool, but somehow I just can't see them pack a whole lot of punch on the tabletop... I guess I'll have to try him one day. He's just going to be a regular Dreadnaught. I shall fight the urge, but I know I shall fail and I'm so going to buythe venerable one that FW is said to be working on now!
And that's it for today. I can share a few other things though. I've played two practice games with my Wolves so far and I really love the army. I was fighting Orks at 1200 points and I had terminators in the list, which are a huge point sink at that point level and yet I managed to triumph once! We haven't finished the second battle, but it was going really well. In first I literally stomped my opponent, having lost only two terminators and getting a single wound on a Rune Priest during the entire game, but that's all thanks to table quarters deployment and Lootas not being able to reach me from the far corner... Perhaps we should've played on a smaller table! :p The second battle started awfully when Lootas decimated the entire Long Fang squad leaving just the brave terminator with a CML who passed like 15 saves! He then proceeded to smash trukks apart, lovely! The tide has turned when a drop pod with terminators arrived aided by scouts later and managed to tear through the Lootas (there were 2x10 of them and a Mek with a SAG). WHen the battle ended I had terminators and Scouts mopping up two remaining Lootas, a single GH squad and two Ork Trukks full of Boyz still in the middle of the table. It could've gone either way, but definitely wasn't as totally lost as I though when my LFs popped.
All in all Wolves are a very fun army. It certainly feels like a relief when you can finally punch someone in the face in combat and not just die horribly no matter what's attacking you! Grey Hunters win the games. If I had picked another GH and LF packs instead of terminators (They are expensive, oh yes...) I would have much easier time dealing with the greenskins.
Oh, and in the other news, I'm thinking about the next "chapter" to the story I've posted in a while. More will be revealed... Let me know if you liked it though! Also I hate how I really want to assemble stuff now. Putting Wolves together was a lot of fun! However I have made a resolution not to buy more minis till the end of the year, and till I paint at least the half of the units I've got... Oh well, I might go back to the Guard a lil' bit and put that third veteran squad together at last, especially since I have a few leftover scout shotguns now!
Also I'm devising another painting tutorial, related to Wolves. I'll have to think it through well however, so not just yet!
That's it for tonight I guess. It seems Wolves post attract less comments than the IG stuff but oh well! ;) Thanks for reading!

Sven Bloodhowl's Great Company
Posted by Hal'jin in Elites, HQ, Modelling, Painting, Space Wolves, Troops, WIP
And so it begins. My Space Wolves are well along the way coming to a nice ammount of a bit over 1000 points now! It's about time to show unveil them and share with all of you!
I have decided to go with an existing Great Company, simply because I didn't really like the idea of modifying fluff to my needs by executing a Wolf Lord and I didn't really feel like some Imperial outcasts that could be classed as the 13th co. Out of those two caught my immidiate attention: Sven Bloodhowl and Kjarl Grimblood. In the end I decided the first one simply sounded cooler and gave me way more flexibility in army building.
I have cooked up a list I'm aiming to collect right now, let me sha... Okay, okay. I know you want to see the minis first, so here goes!
This is a sample Grey Hunter. Truth to be said he's also the only Grey Hunter and the only Wolf painted so far... But I think he turned out reeeeaaally well and if I manage to keep that up across the board the army will be an eyecandy I am intending to make!
Of course that's not the only picture. Click below, as usual, for way more content!
A couple of other shots of the very same Marine.
Here a skulll on his backpack. I'm not entirely the fan of the method it was painted with (I am painting my Wolves exactly as described in a White Dwarf article) so I might modify it a bit later. A scary freehand of Sven Bloodhowl's Company mark.
And a closeup on the pelt! That element I particularly like, just like the face.
I would love to hear your opinions about the model, its base and everything! But of course, that's not all. Here is the entire pack of the Grey Hunter above! As you can see I started working on them somewhat... If you look closer at their faces you might see that I am keeping closely to the fluff described in the book...
Here is the second Grey Hunter pack I've got.
And now for something more awesome - the Wolf Guard Terminators! I've seen that a lot of lists is pulling away from those or making them into a min-max squad, but I love those models so much there's no way I'm not going to field them. As you can see they boast twin Frost Blade/Storm Shields and twin Combi-meltas/Power Fists (the grey fella is still missing his combi-weapon - they're extrememly hard to get their hands on!) accompanied by Wolf Guard carrying a Cyclone Missile Launcher and a Wolf Claw. If you followed the blog you might've met him... a while ago..
A small Wolf Scouts pack. Not _that_ interesting, but what's going to be interesting is their bases. Maybe you can make out what's going to be on them from the two middle ones?
And now... Behold, the Wolf Lord Sven Bloodhowl in the flesh... and a suit of Terminator Armor! He might only be assembled from ready elements without pretty much any converting, but the parts were so excellent I simply didn't see the need to do that at all! The paintjob however will have to be special here...
Finally a converted piece - a Rune Priest! I decided that the axe didn't really say "Runic Weapon" to me. The sword from the Wolf Pack sprue however...!
And last, but not the least the only vehicle I currently have - a humble Drop Pod.Not much there... Though the interior is almost fully painted - just enough to glue it together! Here, have a peek.
There will be much more detailed shots of this later, when the Drop Pod is finished entirely.
Almost forgot about the list, here it is, or rather, they are, for I am unsure which variant will fare better:

The night is silent, the sound of snow crunching beneath his feet echoing loudly. The cold is biting into his bare skin, his stomach keeps reminding of the need to feed, his legs numb from all the kilometers of march in deep snow, yet he walks. He has to. He has to return home.
It only took him a few minutes of looking around to know the right direction. He crouches on the snow and sniffs the chilling air. Despite the darkness and silence surrounding him, he knows that he is not alone. He carefuly makes his way across a frozen river, only seemingly serene. A wrong step and he can topple onto the harder than stone ice or worse, he can break it and then there shall be no rescue from the cold flow. Once relatively safely on the other bank he double checks the environs. It is there, a mark, a footprint, still fresh. A beast is near. His stomach urges him to follow the track without hesitation. But he is a Hunter, he knows he has to be careful. Just as he is about to leave he notices another print. He is not the sole Hunter here.
He is late. The glistening white snow is covered in vast splatters of red. A trail of blood leads away from the slaughter. He is outmatched, he lost. But he is not angry, nor griefs the loss. Instead a cold desire of payback grows within him, making even the weather outside neglectable. He surveys the area. To follow into the den of the Hunters would be to sentence oneself. He is a hunter, he knows exactly what to do. He walks away from the carnage scene. The snow no longer crunches beneath his feet. He makes no sound as if he was one with the night engulfing the world.
Hours pass and he still walks, silent and unnoticed. The dawn is breaking. He stops abruptly and looks down on the glistening snow patch in front of him. He has found what he sought, fresh traces of paws run straight through the white spot. He starts moving slowly and even more careful than before, if that even is possible. He is the Hunter now, but he is no fool, a single mistake and he will become prey instead. His eyes pierce the shadows cast by the trees in the slowly rising sun. He stops and sniffs the air. No man would be able to pick up the scent of his prey in the frozen woods, but he is no man. As if he picked something up he suddenly changes direction. He steps surely, yet makes no sound. The snow does not moan crushed beneath his powerful feet, not a crack of a snapping twig.
Even more time passes, enough for the sun to rise highly on the sky and cast it brightness across the landscape. His heart rises. The prey he hunts sleeps now, waiting for the solace of the night to walk out of its lair, yet he still remember not to underestimate his foe. He walks up onto a small hill and seeks more marks in the snow. Suddenly he freezes. He gazes upon the tracks in front of him and the realisation strikes him. - he has lost again. He lost the battle of wits and is no longer the Hunter, he is the Prey now. Still he does not fear, long ago he forgot that feeling. He turns immidately as he hears a silent growl behind him. They are face to face, Hunter and Prey. A lone Man pittied against the greatest of all Hunters. The huge wolf stares at him and he returns the gaze, looking straight into the darkness within its eyes. The best is huge, easily at least his size. It's dark grey fur covered with snow and blood of its victims, its fangs bare with remains of those unfortunate beings that met it before stuck inbetween them. It is alone however, its pack is nowhere to be seen. His thoughts race as he desperately seeks ways to save his life. His only weapons are a short knife, his hands and his wits, should he been an ordinary man he would be dead already. But he is no longer just a man.
Without warning the beast leaps. In a split second the knife makes its way into his hands as he is rolling to the right to dodge the attack. The beast lands heavily on the snow, but its as swift and agile as he is, if not more. Five seconds after its leap he is granted four cuts that would become a fine scar on his forearm. But he lives, that is all that matters. The beast growls and he snarls in response. He notes in his mind that his fangs are very much akin to the wolf to his surprise. They clash again, he grips the beast just as its about to rip his throat yet its weight overwhelms him and he is knocked onto the ground. The knife is sent flying and last he knows of it is the sound of it plunging into deep snow. He struggles as the wolf tries to reach his neck, snapping its mighty jaws with a force that could shatter his bones. Crimson blood covers his chest as the paw he was unable to block slashes through it. A few more seconds and I'm dead, a voice seems to shout in his head. He focuses his strength and in one moment manages to roll over with the beast, off the slope he walked up. Still grappling they hit a mighty tree growing on the slope. The split second of surprise was enough for him to disconnect from the wolf and stand up on his feet. Blood covers him and he can feel the pain in his left tigh, chest and both arms. But that pain pales in comparison to what he went through in the past days. Quickly he backs up scouring the area for his lost blade. However the wolf does not give him the comfort of time and resumes its attack, leaping again. He sidesteps to the left swinging his arm. A mighty blow strikes the beast's head throwing it off balance. It lands on its side, a chance to strike back opening up for him. But just as he is about to press on he catches a faint glint in the snow nearby. Using the brief moment he quickly dashes to that location. He is too slow.
Like a thunder the mass of the beast falls on his back, toppling him over onto the ground again. The massive claws cutting painfuly into his skin. He lets out a hurt roar of anger. Yet the beast does not end him. Instead it claws more and bites into his arm, causing new explosions of overwhelming pain. His vision erupts in white as the sharp canines dive deeper into his flesh. Suddenly he feels a fire within him. Fire and fury so great and so mighty, that it would give him the power of gods. All he has to do is reach out deep inside of him and grasp it. He can feel its might wash over his body, no pitiful wolf could stand against him. But with the fire comes the darkness. Still, isn't the darkness overwhelming him a small price to pay for his life? He feels as though his fangs grew longer, his claws getting sharper, the expression of his face changing...
No. He focuses his mind. A lone figure in dark black armour. His helm in the shape of a skull and his eyes deep below gazing straight into his soul as he hands him a golden cup. The twisted, corrupt body of the misfortuned that did not possess the inner strength laying on the cold stone floor nearby. But is is the reminder of these eyes brings him back to his senses. He finds new strength, but not coming from the fiery void deep within him. However with the senses returns the pain. It is so excrutiating it nearly catches him off track again, but he managed to get a grip on himself. With inhuman effort and power he throws the beast off his back. Caught off guard it flies over only to drop clumsily on its feet a meter away. But that is enough. With agility of the hunters of legend he reaches into the snow, pulling his blade. Its grip reassures him further as he leaps onto the beast with a battlecry that could terrify a kraken. The wolf is stumped, surprised with such sudden turn of events. It no longer is the Hunter. He throws himself onto it, slicing with his knife. The blade is too blunt to cut through its skin however. The wolf regains its wits a resumes its flurry of claws. He dodges some, but most earn him even more bleeding cuts. He does not lose his weapon this time though and swings back at the beast, using the arm without the knife instead however. It sends the beast flying again, but this time it twists landing on its paws and resuming its attack again. Yet in that split second he realises what power he possesses now. What gift has the Allfather given him. As the wolf flies towards him he pulls his head back.. and headbutts the wolf mightily straight between the dark eyes. It whimpers and thumps on the ground before his feet. Using the momentum he plunges the knife straight into the beasts neck with all the force he can muster. The blade goes straight through the thick fur and skin and a gout of dark blood splutters from the gash. The beast still struggles, but he presses onto it with all his weight, pushing the blade even deeper. It growls fiercely, yet with a faint weak tone in its voice. It suddenly stops struggling. Even though its eyes are dark, he knows it gazes upon him now. It admits his superiority. It lets out a single moaning howl and its eyes grow blank.
He gets up slowly, as if afraid the beast is only tricking him, but it moves no more. He gazes upon it in silence and the looks up on the sky. What felt like an eternal battle couldn't have taken more than 5 minutes. His eyes return to the beast. He nods respectfuly and mutters something incomprehensible. Slowly he kneels before the body and grips his knife once more.
He would return home. And he would bring a trophy of a worthy Hunter.
The stars behind the main deck view-port glow brightly, obscured only by a huge oval of the planet below. A mountainous world under the sovereignity of the Allfather. The sovereignity that has recently been threatened. Hrodgar stands silently gazing the planet below him, surface of which soon he will walk upon. So alike to the mighty Fenris, yet so different. He finishes polishing the huge armoured gauntlet of his mighty armour and puts it on. Enough reminiscing.
(Hope you enjoyed this at least a little bit! Let me know, if you did, I might come up with more in the future)

Finally a post, hooray! When October started I really got a lot of various things happening, the main being the beginning of a new school year at the university. While nothing hard is happening right now, I spend entire days out there and I hardly find urge to do anything at all.
Still, I managed to finish the commision (Some two or three weeks ago actually... But my camera battery died with pics on it and I couldn't find the damn charger..)! The client was very pleased and said there definitely will be more to come, so if you like Vostroyans keep your head up!
I apologise for the quality of the pictures. As I said, the camera died and I couldn't check the pics. Turns out they're way worse quality than I thought, but since I've returned the minis to the owner I couldn't take new ones.. Oh well!
As per usual, click below for more shots!
Aaand... that's it. Oops. I promise to take better pictures of the future commisions and make sure they're proper quality and ammount!
If you got any opinions, shoot! I'd love to hear them.
Also, here's a little sneak peak of the next update... It should happen shortly in the next few days, since the stuff is more or less prepared...
The Sons of Fenris are coming!
At long last, they are done! Fully finished, aside from their transport! I wanted to get those out of the way, before I start on my comission and I managed to get myself to do that finally! The comission itself is halfway done too, but that's for another post, another time.
Without further ado!
Blurry? Yes, I know, it's hard to shoot an entire squad like that. But worry not, click below and you shall see much more pictures, including detail shots!
Starting off with these three fellas. My favourite here is the left one - dynamic casting pose. The right on, on the other hand, has funny teeth. They're implants, from the teeth of dead pilgrims or something equally awesome! The middle one is probably the least interesting of all three metal psykers, but it sure is nice!
Another three, with my absolute favourite on the right! I just love that head. The middle one is a great metal pose, while the right one is the third of the "Graaargh, eat my liiightning!" poses.Starting from the left we have a psyker with a cyber-eye and an unusual (technic-wise) hair colour. Then we have the middle tutor psyker that's concentrating hard to channel the powers of the squad and the fella on the right who wasn't a pretty sight after the sanctioners finished their job...
And last, but not the least - the overseer! Watching the witches with caution and never hesitating to pull the trigger.
Now a few details shots I thought are interesting. First a scroll-tabard.
The head and staff of my favourite psyker.
And his tabard! Along with a key that's his psy-focus.
Shot on the face I think turned out the best of them all.
"Oooh, one mother of a headache I've got..."
"Beware. I'm watching."
And that's it! Thanks for reading, hope you like those! As always I'd love to hear your comments. If you'd also want some specific shot that I haven't included, just say!
Their Chimera is coming along, though I'll probably finish the Vostroyans before that. Expect a progress post on those some time soon, unless I actually finish them during the weekend, which I should..
Not much other news. The Wolves hit the shelves, probably grabbing a codex next week, but waiting for the battleforce to come out before starting. I have great plans for them. :)

Project Manticore - Complete!
Posted by Hal'jin in Converting, IG, Manticore, Modelling, Tanks, Vehicle, WIP
Finally it's here! The Manticore is (well, almost) fully painted and ready for battle! Not sure when will I find time to actually battle-test it, but hopefuly soon!
If you missed the previous posts (Whole... both of them) you can find them here. There you will find the overall process of modelling. Now is the time to show the glorious finish!
It's funny how much you can do out of the lots of bits you have lying around. Especially when you think about unorthodox use of those!
Obviously there's more picures if you click below!
The front......and the rear...
...as well as the side! Which, as you can probably see, was made to look like the sides of the new recut Chimera chasis. It is slightly uneven, I know, I know. It's also recessed, like the new one.
A closeup on the turret. How do you like the radar?
And the simple, humble missles.Got comments? Questions? Shoot! I'd love to hear them.
Overall the work on this model was a real pleasure. It was more-or-less my first scratchbuild like that, not counting the Commissar, though that was purely GS work.
Will I do more? I don't know, but most likely - no. It was a good experiece, but there are no other vehicles I'd want that don't have kits. However, I might look into making a certain cavalry unit for another army at some point in the future...
Now just finishing touches on psykers and I'll have another post coming up... Also next week the Wolves should start hitting the shelves. I'll have to pick something up, oh yes...
You wanted more Guard? Here you have more Guard! Not Cadians though - Vostroyans! Not quite mine too, it's a commision work. My first, even!
I will keep you updated on the progress of those, of course. Here are some shots.
Of course, as usual, there's more.
As you can see, it's a random bunch of differen Vostroyans. I'll be starting work on them next week, then I'll divide them into painting groups. In all honesty, I can't wait. Those minis are simply awesome! Check those snipers too:
I'm supposed to just paint, no basing or anything more. Still going to be quite a bit to do. What will they look like? "Codex" colours. Check out this one:
It actually is painted by me, since he used to be mine, over a year ago. I bet some of the minis I'm going to paint were once mine too. Won't have any doubt so or problems with those!
But before I start on the commision I have to finally finish my Manticore and Psykers! I'll get to them over the weekend (Yes, yes, I was supposed to have done it ages ago, I know!), expect pictures soon! I've been kept busy by a few other things, including this.
If you haven't read it, go do it! I've only started, but I have to say it's excellent so far! I'll write up som review once I'm done, I think.
That's it for today, thanks for reading!
